Two weeks ago we went to Berlin to catch up with and visit some Richmond friends who were staying there. We rode bikes all over the middle of Berlin - fun and nice weather that day. Here are two views (Christian's photos) of a wonderful public space next to the river Spree. It is in a sort of 'Regierungsviertal' (government area), and you can see the Reichstag in the photo on right. Maybe you remember our photos of the dome from last December? This is an image of the back of the building (the glass dome just peeking out in the upper right corner). Christian and I had never been to this area on our other two visits to the Berlin. Its a nice spot to ride through - the light and shadows are wonderful,

and these stairs (can you see where they begin on the right-hand photo) go right down to the water and one can sooth hot, tired feet.
