Chemnitz - third largest city in Saxony, as an industrial city it was heavily bombed during the war and little of the pre-war architecture remains. During the GDR years some reconstruction took place, but mostly the city was cleared for new more modern buildings reflecting typical communist architecture with its emphasis on utility. The view on the left was taken on our way from the art museum to the city center (which is actually nice and pleasing to walk around even though it doesn't have the typical 'little old European city center' look). The rain was not heavy, but I couldn't seem to keep it off the camera lens, sorry...
