feelin' pretty secure these days !
The thumbscrew looking device is actually "new" - it is for a recently installed 'deadbolt' - building owner was eager to assure me that the lock is new and works well - on first glance at the key, I felt instantly certain of this. The other two medieval-looking ones are equally effective. And yes... they are as heavy as they look.

Oh Kris the apartment looks wonderful. The keys remind us of the keys for the studio where we are living. Two, heavy and strange looking (for us) one for our door and one for the gate downstairs. When you put the key in, it pops back out so you have to push and turn twice. Tricky! We're going to have some wine with a couple from Berlin, who are here for 2 months like us. They want to talk about a possible house exchange. Could happen!
